Rodent Facts:
Mice
- Can survive an 8 foot fall onto a hard surface
- A mouse can run as fast as 10 miles an hour
- Mice droppings have pointed ends, are about ¼ inch or less in length and are dark in color. The average mouse averages 50 droppings per day
- Tails are 3 to 4 inches long, longer that the head and body combined
- Body is small, 2 to 3/12 inches generally with a grayish-brown color
- Omnivores. Eats seeds, cereal grains, fruits, vegetables and meats
Roof Rats
- Can survive a fall from up to 25 feet onto a hard surface
- Roof rat droppings have pointed ends, are about ½ inch or less in length and are dark in color; averages 30 to 180 droppings per day
- Tails are 7 ½ to 10 inches long, are hairless and are longer than the head and body
- Body is slender, 6 ½ to 8 inches long with a black to brownish-gray color
- Omnivores. Eats seeds, fruits, vegetables, eggs and grain
